My New Year

So, I have had a lot of time to think about my new year resolutions. I didn’t want to plan any that were generic or cliche. I really want to strive to be a better person, for me and for Marcus and my future children. So here they are!

1. Be more outgoing. Okay, this is definitely a new one for me. I am not aiming to become Ms. Party Animal/Social butterfly, but I hardly leave the house unless I have to and usually don’t hang out with people unless they really lay it on thick. My goal is to at least go out occassionally, do some social interactions and hang out with people more.

2. Be healthy. So here is my way of cheating, sort of. I want to be healthy and that definitely includes losing weight. But it also includes cutting out bad cholesterol, bad fats, and sugars. I really want to minimize my risk for some diseases like diabetes and heart disease as they run in my family bigtime. I also want to cut out as much caffiene as I can and processed foods.

3. Volunteer More. I really enjoyed doing community service with my sorority and I don’t want it to end just because I am not an undergraduate anymore. I hope I can do community service more related to my interests and goals.

4. Learn a new Skill. My goal is to learn the piano, but I can settle for anything else, like learning to drive a manual!

These are my big ones for this year, of course I still have my larger goal list but these are my short term goals that will hopefully fulfill the bigger ones!

Work it Out

First off…I have a new theme! I’m going pink for October for Breast Cancer awareness month. It’s a really important cause to be aware of and mostly is important because every woman needs to be aware that they should perform self breast exams, mammograms (if need be), and take other precautions to lower the risk of having a cancer that can’t be stopped. There are several different kinds of breast cancer and I won’t go into all of that but it’s really important that if you have a history of breast cancer in your family that you take extra precaution to catch it early should it develop. Also, just be sure to eat plenty of antioxidants!! Fruits, Veggies..YUM! Even fish can help combat cancer!

So, this week, has already been the longest of my life. I am completely worn out. Today, I finally got a lot of work done, thanks to the fact that I want to be kept busy at work. I get bored, cranky and a headache when I am just sitting at my desk! Grrrrrrr!!!!! But the upside today is that I got my lazy butt up and worked out this morning. I really really highly recommend working out in the morning. If you just get up and do it, it’s not a little obligation hanging over your head all day. Statistically, if you work out in the morning you work out longer and harder and end up losing more weight. Not to mention, I’ve heard that since in the morning you don’t have much carbs to burn, your body just starts burning fat which = WAY BETTER. So yeah! Do it!

So my little project is being put on holdĀ  until this weekend because I really don’t have the strength to work on it once I get home from work. Ultimately, I hope to have it up and running by mid-October, if only a prototype with feedback given. But I’m still excited for it!

Speaking of working out (again) I am SO sore from doing tae-bo monday morning. OMG. My legs feel like they will fall off any minute. Sheesh. But I love Tae Bo. I love how I yell at Billy Blanks things like “OMG you suck” “No Billy not another rep..” or “Damnit Billy I’m trying to stop bouncing/kicking my leg so high/etc”. I remember when tae-bo first came out, lots of people were going to his studio in L.A. and my friend even invited me to go with her but back then I had basketball and was already so worn out from that. Boy, I wish I could take that back!

I don’t know if anyone else knows, but I have another blog called The Shoe Fits and I kind of use it to write reviews, post articles, and really sound off on things. Right now it’s really “messy” and I only have two posts, but I am trying to work out the kinks and get it really functioning and stuff. Anyone have any other suggestions of what I can use it for?
